Pink October Events Happening in Malta this October
Since 1985, October has become synonymous with Breast Cancer awareness as charities worldwide work hard in educating women about the importance of early screening, whilst remembering those lost to the disease and honouring survivors.
And when it comes to raising awareness, Malta is certainly no exception. Year after year, the Marigold Foundation organises a variety of events throughout the month of October which are in line with their principal objective; that of positively empowering people and of working with them to raise standards, support initiatives and strengthen voices.
Let us guide you through Marigold Foundation’s Pink October events planned for 2019 across the island!
The Pink & Black Bike Ride
Kicking off this year’s campaign is the Pink & Black Bike Ride. This Sunday 6th October, bikers are invited to ride around Malta in all shades of pink and black encouraging women of all ages to face their fear and get tested as soon as possible. The meeting time is at 9 am in Floriana, near the Independence Monument.
The Esplora Night Walk
Up for some well-needed exercise all for a good cause? Join the Esplora Night Walk on Friday 18th October at the Esplora Interactive Science Centre in Kalkara. Registration and science busking start between 7 pm and 9 pm while the walk will then start at 9:15 pm. A shuttle service will be available from Fortini Ground in Birgu between 6:45 pm and 8:45 pm.
Doctors at Tigne
If you’re planning a shopping spree at The Point Shopping Mall on Saturday 19th October, be sure to look out for Pink October’s doctors who will be giving free medical check-ups between 2 pm and 5 pm.
The PINKO Pink Ball
For the third consecutive year, the Marigold Foundation will be organising the PINKO Pink Ball in collaboration with the clothing brand PINKO. This year, the event will take place on Saturday 26th October at 7 pm at Palazzo Parisio, Naxxar. The ball will raise funds in order to give support and psychological care to persons with breast cancer, among others. For bookings, call on 99912373.
So, this Pink October, besides participating and supporting Marigold Foundation’s worthy cause, we encourage you to face your fear and go for a screening (while urging those around you to do just the same!). Just remember: one test can save a life.
